February, 2003 The new year brings exciting news from the Breezy Porticos!  We have "inked a deal" (actually, it was more like a handshake) with Best Friends Records!  This is the hot new label run by Al from the Maybellines!  We are hoping to release a full-length CD on Best Friends by late spring or early summer so stay tuned to these pages for further information.  You can also link directly to the Best Friends website from our "Links" page for monthly updates from Al himself.

We're also pleased to be a part of the new Baka Poi CD compilation "I am a Victim of This Song".  Baka Poi is a great fanzine from France and Katy has outdone herself this time!  The CD features 18 great bands and comes with a zine in French or English.  Our "dance remix" version of "Starry-eyed" (the original version was featured on the Amateur Rocket Club compilation - you can listen to it on the "Records" page) sees the light of day on this one.  For information on obtaining your own copy email Katy at victimofsong@yahoo.com

We recently performed four songs live on the air at KVCU am1190 in Boulder.  We had a lot of fun and for those of you that got to hear us, we hope you enjoyed it!  For those of you who didn't, despair not - we shall try to put one of the songs on the
website in the near future.

'Til next time, keep it crisp!

December, 2002     Everything is in a state of flux due to the holidays and all (I'm sure you know how that goes!) so there's not too much report from Breezy, Inc. at this time.  Please check back in early January for an update on our blueprint for world  domination. . .or something like that. . .

Happy Holidays from the Breezy Porticos!

November, 2002     As the days grow shorter we here at Breezy Inc. have a couple of things to tell you about that just may lift you out of the evening gloom and put a smile on your face.  Firstly, we've just gotten in a new shipment of buttons that we'd love to give away so please write or email us for info on how to get one o' these into your possession!  We've got several stickers designs as well, so be first on your block to sport a Breezy button AND have an array of stickers at your disposal.  Secondly, the 10th issue of Madoka Fukushima's fanzine Quien? is out and it's fantastic!  It contains a riveting Breezy Porticos interview as well as interviews with the Salteens and California Snow Story, plus Madoka's usual great reviews and commentary.  What makes this issue the best one yet is that it comes with a compilation CD entitled "Pools of Notes in Various Forms" which features the heretofore unreleased Breezy track "Paint a Picture"!  The comp. is chock-full of great tunes, including songs by such groups as the Lil' Hospital, Loch Ness Mouse, Princeton Reverbs Colonial and the Impossible Shapes.  It's really worth seeking out - or you can contact Breezy Porticos for your very own copy!  High praise is in order for Madoka and Kevin Neblung for assembling such a great compilation.

October, 2002     October Update.  What happened to September?!?  Oh, it's just as well - the month passed in a blur like the falling leaves of autumn. . .and October is when the action really begins anyways!  We have a couple of shows this month we're very excited about; firstly we're playing with Of Montreal and "+/ -" on the 9th, then it's a hootenanny with Dressy Bessy and Thank God For Astronauts on the 25th. See the 'Shows' page for more details... These shows mark the return of the Breezies to the stage after a "medically-enforced" hiatus brought on by the now-near-mythical accident Andy had with a wayward mirror...  There may be smoke at Breezy shows in the future, but there certainly won't be any mirrors!  We have new buttons on the way.  Write us for one today!

August, 2002     Welcome to the latest (and late) installment of Breezy-goings-on.  The month of August got off on the wrong foot, you could say, with a rather severe injury to Andy's lower calf that was caused by a (ahem) "strategically misplaced" mirror.  Needless to say, the accident resulted in surgery and a rather long recuperation that prevented the Breezies from playing their long-waited show with I Am The WTC.  Dang!  On the bright side of things, the accident could've been a lot worse, plus Andy still can play guitar.  Thus, he's been busy building up the callouses on his fingers and his butt (from sitting on the couch all day) doing some fret-ticklin' and writing songs, influenced no doubt by the over-stimulation of too much bad daytime TV and a steady diet of prescription drugs. One can only wait with baited breath - or horror - for the results of this feverish endeavour!  While the Breezies have been temporarily prevented from playing live, we have returned to our practice schedule (albeit in a somewhat more "relaxed" manner), plus it is our hope that by mid-September we'll be able to play out again, even if it means having to carry Andy onstage and lay him on a couch!  Stay tuned to these pages for further updates on Andy's condition. . .and 'til then, keep it crisp!

July, 2002     Ah, the dog days of summer.  As the temperature rises one's thoughts turn to mint juleps, cool breezes, spectacular sunsets - and that perfect summer soundtrack.  We here at Breezy, Inc. fervently believe in good summer tunes, and to that end we are repairing to the studio this month to record our summer opus, entitled "My Biplane (Who's Laughing Now)".  At this point we're not sure how or when it'll see the light of day - but rest assured it's got that summer vibe!  Stay tuned in to these pages as information becomes available.  Speaking of information, have you checked out Maybellines drummer Al's website?  It's chock full of information about shows and bands in the Denver/Boulder area as well as a little "sugar n spice" care of Al's own take on music and "the scene".  Oh yeah, it also serves as the homepage for Al's record label!  Check it out: Best Friends Records   Once at the site go to 'sounds' to hear a Breezy rarity entitled "Gee, Your Math Looks Terrific".  This track was originally issued by Happy Happy Birthday To Me on a split 7'' with The Gwens (if you'd like a copy please contact us as we only have a few left!). . .

We've got a couple of shows coming up that we're very excited about!  Firstly, Jeff will be hosting a house party on July 29th featuring Kevin from Lil' Hospital and Annette from Makeout Session performing acoustic sets.  Breezy Porticos will also play a short set.  Rumour has it that the Love Letter Band will also perform but that cannot be substantiated at this time (you can help tip the scales by emailing them directly and demanding they play!)   (Love Letter Band). . .  Jeff's house is located at the NE corner of 24th and Williams (1801 E. 24th Ave, to be exact) in Denver (sorry about you out-of-towners who can't make it, we'll rock for you!) and the festivities will begin around 8 pm.  We're also looking forward to playing on July 31st with I Am The World Trade Center and the Dinnermints, another great Denver band!

'til the next time, keep it crisp with your cool beverage of choice and crank up the stereo!

June, 2002     Now that June's here I s'pose it's time for the. . .um. . .May update.  How quickly the time passes!  First off, we'd like to thank all the bands we've played with recently, especially the Maybellines, Thank God for Astronauts, Princeton Reverbs Colonial and the Love Letter Band.  The past couple of months have seen a spate of great shows!  Whew!  Look for some of the flyers on the 'Show' page soon as well as some new photos on the 'Scrapbook' page.  One of our heretofore unreleased songs, "Breezy Porticos", has been released on DU Records' annual Noise Tent sampler, which is a compilation of (mostly) Denver/Boulder bands that have recorded at Noise Tent studios.  For further info on how to obtain your very own copy go to noisetent .  Speaking of recording, work continues apace.  The songs "Shelby's Foot" and "Six Flags Over Nowhere" were committed to tape at Noise Tent a few weeks ago, with plans to record a couple more in June. . . 'til next time, keep it crisp!

April, 2002     We've got a couple of new things to tell you about!  Firstly, the former "Photos" page is now called "Scrapbook" and, well, like a scrapbook it will contain various photos and clippings of interesting Breezy-related stuff such as our latest interview conducted by Al of Best Friends Records (he also moonlights as the drummer for the Maybellines)!.  Look also for a new photo or two. . .  Secondly, check out the "Records" page for an mp3 of our unreleased song "Throwing Bees" that we recorded last summer.  We hope you enjoy it!  Speaking of recording, we'll be returning into "the studio" next week to record a couple of songs.  We'll keep you posted. . .so stay tuned in and keep it crisp!

March, 2002     Welcome to the latest Breezy goings-on!  We hope that Spring sprang gloriously for you...  We've been in the process of recording new songs the past few weeks and hope to add one to the Records page for your listening pleasure soon.  The songs we've recorded include Breezy Porticos (a semi-autobiographical tale of life in a not-so-big city) and Paint a Picture (ever wish you didn't have to open a book to travel?). Paint a Picture will be included on the upcoming Quien? fanzine CD compilation which should be out sometime in late spring/early summer. We've also remixed Starry-eyed, a track on the Amateur Rocket Club double 7-inch compilation, and it will be included on the forthcoming Baka Poi fanzine CD compilation.  Also, be on the lookout for our interview in the next issue of Quien?! (thanks Corey!)  Take the time to check out some of the other interviews and stay awhile to read the fiction! Well, that's about all the news for now - check back soon for more updates, intrigue and random acts of kite-flying!  And write us for free stuff!  We'd love to hear from you. . .

February, 2002     Hey there, folks.  We're sorry it's taken us so long to update our news section.  Somehow the past couple of months flew past without us even realizing it!  We're sure you understand the feeling.  Anyway, we hope you had an enjoyable and happy holiday season and have settled in comfortably for a nice traipse through '02.

We were lucky enough to start the new year off with a jangle with Dressy Bessy [link to shows, Jan.4th gig], who departed for a European tour shortly thereafter (word on the street is their tour was a good 'n; check the DB website for all the juicy details!).  It was a great show and we wish all of you could've made it!  It was most likely our last gig for awhile as we will be going "into the studio" (various and sundry soundproofed basements with recording equipment, actually), to record several songs in the hopes of eventually releasing the first Breezy full-length!  Yeah!  We'll keep you updated on that endeavour...  In the meantime we will be contributing a track to the upcoming CD compilation put out by Japan's Quien? fanzine; look also for a Porticos interview in the next issue of Quien? (out sometime in late Spring).

We do have a few Breezy Porticos shows in April to tell you about.  The first one is April 9th with Mates of State and Denver's own The Maybellines.  On the 15th we will be playing with the Princeton Reverbs Colonial, and on the 21st we'll welcome Wolf Colonel and Colorado's The Love Letter Band to our fair city.  Whew!  Stay tuned to these pages for updates on these (and any other) shows.

A few new photos have been added to the site, plus we hope to get a couple of new mp3's up and running as well.  Also, be looking in the near future for the long-awaited "Breezy Bios" - everything you wanted (or didn't want) to know about yours truly.  Riveting stuff.  There's talk of us contributing to Baka-Poi fanzine's compilation, too.  Look for next month's edition of Breezy News for info on that project. . .

'til then, keep it crisp!  And write us for free stickers (we've got a new batch)!

November 2001     Here's a review from Japan's fabulous Quien? fanzine and an interview from issue 15 of The Bee's Knees

September 2001    We had a great time on our weekend jaunt to Grand Junction and Salt Lake City with the Maybellines.  It was great to see our friends Chris and the Love Letter Band at the Pop Up House in GJ and Richard and Penny aka Just the Two of Us in SLC.  We'd also like to thank Phil at Kilby Court. . .and of course the Maybellines for being a blast to tour with!

August 2001   We're all back in Denver together.  At the same time.  And, um...  tanned, rested and ready...  Didn't Husker Du say something about a "celebrated summer"?  Look out world!

July 2001  The band is currently taking a few weeks off for "summer break".  Our summer fun activities include catching up on our reading, house-painting (not so fun), camping and sleeping.  Oh yeah, and writing new songs!  Added recent and older flyers to the Shows page.  Also, check out the new photo additions to the Stuff page!

June 2001   Our split 7-inch ep with the fabulous Gwens is out now on Happy Happy Birthday To Me!  It's available through ParasolInsound, D is for Distro, and Twee Kitten  (Or directly through Happy Happy Birthday To Me!)  Also, look for the Amateur Rocket Club 2x7-inch compilation  - and some of our other releases - through these distributors as well!  We've gone into Chris' studio to record a song ("Throwing Bees") for the Looking Glass Workshop compilation being assembled by Justin of the Echo Orbiter.  Look for it to be released in the fall!

April, 2001     Welcome to the new Breezy Porticos website!  Stay tuned for further updates!  We just returned from our lil' "Amateur Rocket Club" tour with the Maybellines, Kudzu Towers and the Jenni Jensens.  Thanks to Chris of the Love Letter Band in Grand Junction, the Jenni Jensens and Phil of Kilby Court in Salt Lake City for making it a success!  And of course, special thanks are in order to the Maybellines and Kudzu Towers for being so fun to travel and play with! It was nice meeting so many cool and supportive people and hopefully we'll see you all again sometime soon!  The "Amateur Rocket Club" double 7-inch compilation is out now! Months in the making, it features two songs apiece by the Jenni Jensens, the Maybellines, Kudzu Towers and Breezy Porticos, plus groovy packaging and inserts.  It's on coloured vinyl (red and blue!) and limited to 500 copies!
